Regular bathing and blowdrying are good for your dog’s overall health, comfort, and happiness. How often your dog needs bathing is dependent on the dog’s breed, lifestyle, and skin condition. Dogs with a shorter coat may only need to be bathed once every few months whereas dogs with a longer coat may need to be bathed every 4-6 weeks.

Why Bathing Matters

Bathing removes dirt, debris, allergens, and excess oils from your dog’s skin and coat, helping to prevent matting and maintain their natural shine. It’s also a great opportunity to check for any abnormalities, such as lumps, skin irritations or pests such as fleas and ticks. Regular baths are particularly beneficial for dogs prone to allergies or those who spend a lot of time outdoors.

Customised Shampoo Selection

Since each dog has their own needs, I have a variety of shampoos and conditioners for each coat type to ensure their coat and skin get the perfect care:

  • Sensitive Skin: Gentle, hypoallergenic shampoos with soothing ingredients like oatmeal or aloe vera.
  • Dry or Itchy Skin: Moisturizing shampoos with natural oils to calm irritation.
  • Oily Coats: Deep-cleansing shampoos to remove excess oil while preserving the coat's health.
  • Flea and Tick Control: Medicated shampoos to help eliminate pests and prevent reinfestation.
  • Brightening or Whitening: Specialty shampoos to enhance the natural colours of your dog’s coat.

Blowdrying for Comfort & Style

Once clean, your dog’s coat is thoroughly dried using a blow dryer. This process not only leaves them warm and comfortable but also prevents matting, especially for long-haired breeds. Blowdrying also gives their coat a smooth, finished look and prepares the fur for trimming if needed.
